Polyethylene Terephthalate. Used plastic water bottles, hot glue,
and colored light films. 7’x 7’ x 9’.
2023.
I asked the community of the Texas Tech University School of Art to donate plastic water bottles by placing donation bins within the school's largely traveled areas. Working with these seemingly unimportant but environmentally detrimental objects, I transformed and assembled them into non-representational sculptural forms and installations. I am primarily interested in how these materials interact with light and produce sound. The translucent plastic material of a water bottle allows me to play with how light activates the sculpture, in conjunction with the auditive qualities the material possesses when walked on by the audience.
